Milla Jovovich spent her early childhood both in London, where her father Bogdanovitch Jovovich was studying, and Russia, where her mother, Gallina Loginova lived. Soon after her finished his studies the whole family moved to California. Milla had difficulties adapting to the American way of life. She acting career began at the young age of 9, and modeling soon after at 11. Milla's first cover shoot was for the Italian fashion magazine Lei. Due to a six-page fashion spread by Herb Ritts for a French fashion magazine quickly moved Jovovich to the top ranks. While doing 15 fashion covers and countless other shoots in her first year of modeling she still managing the time for her studies that including the training necessary for runway work as well as maintaining her teenage social life. Her first movie was released in 1988, entitled Two Moon Junction, followed by The Night Train to Kathmandu. Milla Jovovich has been in Calvin Klein, Escape, and dozens of other high profile ads, as well as in all the major glamour magazines. Her next film in her young years were in the film Return to Blue Lagoon in 1991, and then Kuffs and Chaplin in 1992. When she turned 16, she married 21 year old actor and boyfriend Shawn Andrews only to have the marriage annulled two months later. In 1993 she stared in Dazed and Confused, her career was already in full swing. The young model and young actress now looked for new things to do so she released her first album at the age of 18, entitled The Divine Comedy. Milla Jovovich's album, unlike many other model's attempt to get inte the music industy, was well-received. One of her greater roles in her career and the one that got her all the attention in the world of movies was shen she stared in The Fifth Element (1998), the sci-fi movie starring Bruce Willis that takes place in the future. She actually played the fifth element in the movie which ment playing as Leeloo. Her modeling experience came in handy since she was required to use little facial expressions and portray an innocent and distant look. The spring of '98, Milla starred in a Spike Lee Joint with Denzel Washington, named He Got Game (1998). There Milla played a prostitute who suffers from a severe beating, but she gets very little time on screen. Since she already had stared in one of Luc Besson's films she got the leading role in the depiction of Joan Of Arc (1999). To Bessons fortune she married him soon after the movie was made. Milla Jovovich starred in the horror film Resident Evil (2002) and the follow up Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004).
