Kate Winslet was born in Berkshire, England. She started acting and appearing in commercials at an early age. At 11, Kate got her first professional job in a commercial for a kids' cereal (opposite the Honey Monster). Her first big break came at age 17, when she got a role in Heavenly Creatures (1994). In 1997, she starred in Titanic opposit Leonardo DiCaprio. In 1998, Kate married director James Threapleton. Together they have a daughter, Mia, who was born in October 12, 2000. Kate and James divorced in 2001 and in 2003 Kate married director Sam Mendes. On December 22, 2003, she gave birth to their son Joe.
