Kate Beckinsale was born in London, England to parents that was both actors. Her father died of a heart attack in 1979. Kate made her acting debut in a World War II television drama named One Against the Wind (1991). In 1993, she played the role of Hero in Much Ado About Nothing starring Emma Thompson. During this time she attend University, but dropped out of her studies after getting more acting roles.
In 2001, Kate Beckinsale starred in Pearl Harbor co-starring Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. In 2004, she played the role of vampire hunter Anna Valerious in Van Helsing co-starring Hugh Jackman, and she portrayed Ava Gardner in the Oscar-winning film The Aviator (2004) starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Kate Beckinsale has a daughter, Lily Sheen (born January 31, 1999), with actor Michael Sheen. Kate married director Len Wiseman on May 9, 2004. They met during the filming of Underworld (2003). Her daughter, Lily, received her own "wedding ring" from Len Wiseman. Kate starred in the film Underworld: Evolution (2006).
