Faith Hill was born in 1967, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was adopted by Ted and Edna Perry, when she was one week old. Faith grew up in the small town of Star, and she used to sing on family reunions and gatherings, local rodeos and fairs, church and in school. Her early musical influences were Elvis Presley, Tammy Wynette, George Strait and Reba McIntyre, as well as the gospel choir of her church. At the age of 19, Faith headed to Nashville to pursue her dream of a career in country music. Faith's first job was selling t-shirts at the Country Music Fan Fair. After that she worked as a secretary at Gary Morris' publishing company. This job would eventually lead her to stardom. Faith Hill hit the scene in 1994, with her first album Take Me As I Am and its no. 1 single, Wild One. Two years later she followed up with It Matters To Me. Faith Hills third album, Faith sold even more than her previous albums, selling 4 million copies. The singles Breathe and The Way You Love Me was number one for 4-6 weeks. In 1994, Faith Hill received the Academy of Country Music Award for Favorite New Female, the TNN/Music City News Single of the Year for This Kiss in 1998, and named Female Vocalist of the Year in 1999 by TNN/Music City News. She is married to country singer Tim McGraw, and together they have the daughters: Audrey, Maggie and Gracie. |
