Alicia Silverstone's mother was a former airline stewardess and her father was a real estate investor. Alicia attended Crocker Middle School and then San Mateo High School. Her time in the spotlight began as a model at the age of 6. She got several modeling jobs for companies such as YSL, Levis' Dockers and Marshall's. In 1993, when Alicia Silverstone was 15, she landed her first movie, entitled The Crush. She starred as the teenager, Adrian Forrester, obsessed with an older man. Alicia refused to pose nude in the film and a body double was hired for "behind" shots. The movie won Best Villain and Breakthrough Performance at the MTV Movie Awards in 1994. During the filming, she found an injured dog on the side of the road. Since then, Alicia is actively involved with several animal rights groups such as The Ark Trust and PETA.
After the movie The Crush, Alicia starred in three Aerosmith music videos entitled Cryin, Crazy, and Amazing (co-starring Liv Tyler). When Cryin was released, it was voted number one video of all time on MTV. In 1995 Alicia could be seen in The Babysitter, Hideaway, True Crime, and The Nouveau Monde. And that same year, Alicia starred in the movie Clueless which launched her career. Her role was the spoiled rich girl Cher Horowitz. Alicia next starred as Batgirl in the fourth Batman and Robin movie. In 1999 she starred in the romantic comedy Blast From The Past.And in 2002 she starred in the movies Scorched, a bank robbery comedy with Woody Harrelson and John Cleese, and Global Heresy, a comedy with actor Peter O'Toole.
